Dear Walmart

So tonight I went to buy bikes for my kids for christmas. I also bought a whole bunch of other stuff. Somehow I got out of the store without actually paying for the bikes I didn’t realize it until I got home and was recording my purchase in my bank book (cuz I’m good like that) Anyway I decided to make it right I drove back to Walmart to tell them that I haven’t paid for my bikes but I already unloaded them into a friends garage so I don’t have them with me.
I explained the situation to lady at the service desk and she told me there is nothing she could do with out the bikes or the tags. I asked her how I can make it right. she basically told me that I had to go find tags for it if there were some in the store or need to bring the bike back. Bringing the bikes back was not an option so I decided to go look in the bike section but of course I bought the ones on clearance so there’s no other ones like them left. As I’m digging for tags I am questioning why I am working harder to make this right than they seem to car.  I’m struggling with this because I could have just walked out and never come back and not paid for my bikes and only have my guilty conscience to deal with. It almost seems as if Walmart with making it hard for me to do the right thing it was more of a pain for me to go dig up a tag and find the price for the bikes that I had purchased or thought I’d purchased. What would you have done in this situation?

By the way I wrote this blog by talking into my phone. technology is awesome don’t mind the typos.

The only time something like that has happened to me was when I had a box of diapers on the bottom rack of the cart and forgot to put them up on the belt at checkout. I made it all the way to the car, unloaded everything, got the kids buckled in, and then saw my mistake. Luckily it was easy enough to remedy and yes, people looked at me like I was crazy when I explained what happened.

Did you ever find the tags?

    • I took the tags off the shelf. The lady told me that they wouldn’t work. I looked at her like “seriously?” If she didn’t figure something out I was walking out without paying. She made it work and I got the bikes paid for. It was a big hassle and I will be thinking twice about my effort in doing the right thing at Walmart. Next time I will probably pay it forward with someone in need.
