On the upside

The bad news: I have lost something (a very insignificant item but it is bugging me that I can’t find it.

The good news: I have cleaned out the junk drawer in the kitchen and have found about 400 pens and pencils to take to my classroom for kids that “forget to bring one.” I also found the spare key to my car. And I found all the Frontline flea and tick medicine I bought for the dog last summer. And I found all the rechargable batteries and charger that I lost last winter.
I also cleaned out the hall closet and got rid of and entire kitchen trash bag full of crap that had been taking up space for the last 4 years (and probably for years before that in our old house and before that the series of apartments the hubs and o have rented apparently I just keep moving it). I found 2 packages of ponytail holders… Too bad my hair is too short for a ponytail. And I found about 30 new toothbrushes and corresponding samples of toothpaste from all our dental visits since we 1st got dental insurance 9 yrs ago. And I found the beach towels I couldn’t find last summer. And I found about 1000 alcohol swabs. Not sure why I bought so many of those but they will probably come in handy.
I also cleaned out the area above our washing machine. I found 3 different plugins for the Vicks vapor sent. Apparently that is where I have stored them at the end of each winter and forget they are there and then go buy a new one. And I found some more Frontline. Its a wonder my dog hasn’t gotten fleas.  And I found 7 rolls of duct tape, some scotch tape, magnetic tape, packing tape, and foam tape. Why can’t I ever find this stuff when I need it?
I also cleaned out the vanity drawers in the bathroom.  I threw away a lot of stray cotton balls and several old toothbrushes.  Who saves old toothbrushes? Apparently this family. I also found a lot of diapers. We have been diaper free for 3 yrs!
But guess what?
I still have not found what I was looking for!!!  Good grief!

Does this ever happen to you?

We have this big pocket organizer on the back of the closet door that goes under the stairs for this very reason! All our tapes (duct, packing, masking…etc), super glue, extra hooks and screws, and all the random stuff that never really has a place. It all goes in this pocket organizer. I wish I had thought of it before because it’s so convenient! Here’s a picture of what I’m talking about:

    You should totally do it!

    • That is a great idea. We have lots of bins on shelves for the same reason but they aren’t clear and the boys can’t reach so they just throw things in. I might have to try this. Thanks for the idea!
